Journal 29/1/14 - New Digipak and poster draft

After receiving the feedback from my Digipak and poster I decided to change them both. One of the main concerns was that the overall theme and style of the poster and Digipak didn't match thus is didn't seem I was advertising the same band. In order to change this I decided to go for a more colourful style and use the plasticine men as this was an idea presented. Therefore I've removed the real people from my Digipak and replaces them with the plasticine models which I personally think is a major improvement. In order to make the the plasticine men more distinct I desaturated the background and saturated the colour of the men to ensure they are the main focus and don't get lost in the background.

As for the 'free model' promotion I decided to change this due to the rise in popularity of the indie genre which would make the free model upon purchase rather expensive and more suited for a mainstream band. Therefore I decided to turn it into a competition which I felt was more suitable for the genre and added more excitement for the audience. This also worked as an advertising tool as it ensured the audience would visit the bands website.

I also ensured to add key features to make the Digipak look legitimate. For example I added the record label rights and information and the back of the Digipak alongside the rough trade logo. I then made sure to put my panels the right way round so when printed they all lined up correctly. Another issue was that I forgot the spine therefore I added one and decided to keep it simply by just making it white and adding the bands name so it wasn't distracting the audience from the colours and the bands could be identified.

My poster I feel was the worse of the two and I'm still not fully happy with it so I plan on making improvements by Friday. In order to improve my Digipak I made it look similar to the Digipak by using the plasticine models and making the background the bricks of the house in the music video.
