Journal 27/10/13 - audience research (logo)

After designing our mood board we created a simple logo for our band which we felt conveyed the indie genre well and also gave hints the band had a rock vibe to them as well. We decided to keep it simple and use a bold black font which looked very distinct and as a group we liked the appearance of. We then added a small silhouette of a man playing in a guitar into the O to portray how the bands image is often obscured and also show how the band are passionate about music.

However, we knew our personal opinion alone wasn't enough to make the logo official therefore we conducted some audience research by handing out a simple survey to our target audience to get their opinion. We hoped to get some pointers on how we can improve our logo to ensure it is as suitable as it can be for our target audience.

As a whole we were happy with our feedback as our audience successfully managed to identify the genre of our band was indie but also acknowledged the fact their were rock aspects within the logo.They also appeared pretty pleased with the logo however, many of them commented that the use of some colour would me nice, therefore we hope to create another mock of up the logo and conduct another survey ,perhaps this time online, in the near future. I personally feel the use of colour will be good for the logo however, I would like it to be rather discreet, in my opinion I would like to add colour to the guitar the man is holding. I will be discussing this idea with my group to see if they agree, if so hopefully we can add a vibrant red to the guitar to add a pop of colour.
